First micro-research grant award – Pediatric Vision Screening

We are excited to announce that our first micro grant award has been awarded with the goal of improved screening of vision issues for children in Dhulikhel, Nepal. A team led by Raju Kaiti has been awarded ~$870 to purchase age-appropriate vision screening tools. Raju is an optometrist at Dhulikhel Hospital and also studying for his masters degree. Visit to Dhulikhel about Micro-grants and School Rebuilding Status

Quick update: Seth went to Dhulikhel Hospital (about 30k east of Kathmandu) yesterday and met with Dr. Rajeev Shrestha who is helping administer our micro-research grant program. The two also met with optometrist Raju Kaiti (currently a student working on his masters) and ophthalmologist Dr. Pooja Shrestha. Raju has led a micro-research proposal (submitted before the earthquake) to improve vision screening services for children under 6 years old. We'll be reporting more on this in the coming months.
