“Girls in Action” team participated in Seto Gumba 11km trail.

42 girls from 'Girls in Action' participated in Kathmandu Trail Race Series organized by Trail Running Nepal. Some girls ran and others hiked enjoying the marked trails. Our girls were excited to participate as they have been winter training for past two and half months. They very much enjoyed the race and are looking forward to explore more trails in future. Our WOV girls team completed their first International Women’s Day 5k Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, March 5 2016. It was amazing to see them finish their first race with fun. Wide Open Vistas would like to thank Lizzy Hawker for encouraging and supporting our girls on the hike  to the top of Shivapuri Peak on 20th Feb 2016 with our girls. Raj and Sasha from Kathmandu trail running group along with Rhea and Arika joined us as well. WOV staff Sonam getting a hand from her friend Esha took our WOV girls for a hike to Nagi Gumba - Shivapuri National Park, Kathmandu on 5th Dec 2015 from Budhanilkantha temple. Ganga, Maiti, Kelsang, Smriti, Isha, Sampriti, Sangita and Farista(Sangita's younger sister) from Himalaya Boarding School and Shree Budhanilkantha H.S.S. joined us for the adventure. Pictures from the visit with our scholars at Himalaya Boarding School, Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu. Maiti had gone to her village, Sindhupalchok during Dashain and Tihar vacation. According to her, there was no proper shelter available and kids were studying in bamboo shelters after the earthquake. Ganga and Kelsang stayed at home and did their vacation homework. They did not celebrate the festival as they were not feeling like celebration after the earthquake and still ongoing crisis in Nepal.
