Hi friends.
Every year we work with our partner ‘Himalayan Adventure Labs‘ and organize a children’s race in the high altitude village of Manang on the Annapurna Circuit. Thank you Matt Jenkins, from www.cliffcolor.com for producing this short video from the event last fall.

Just a quick update on things that we’ve been working on behind the scenes, we have a quarterly board meeting coming up and some of this will be reflected in those minutes, but we wanted to brag a little ahead of time:
  • We redid the website with a new theme. The old one looked good but it was hard to edit and didn’t update well. Let us know what you think!
  • We also have a new donation platform which does not charge any additional fees (it is a nonprofit itself). It also allows people to easily create their own fundraisers and to also host fundraising events and ‘sell’ tickets – let us know if interested! http://wideopenvistas.org/fundraise-for-wov/

  • We are organizing a one day Wilderness First Aid course for 20 girls and 20 female guides in northern KTM – it will be taught by medical students from Virginia who are visiting. We are pretty excited about this. Total program cost is expected to be roughly $500 (with most of it spent on first aid kits that the participants can take home). Nikita is the lead on this.

  • Sudeep and Nikita have put in a lot of time paying tuition bills and making sure the youth scholars had their medical exams. We have collected a lot of letters from the students and Seth is working on getting these posted and updates out to sponsors and also revising the whole sponsorship system as it is difficult to update and manage.

  • Seth is working on making sure the word is out about our Grant Request for Applications ‘Improving Girls Education, Health, and Leadership is disseminated and also assembling a review committee – thanks to Dr. Pratibha Phuyal and Dr. Meekha Tuladhar for their service on this committe, let us know if interested!

  • We are working with our partners at Sahaayam Nepal to line up hopefully 12 schools where we will help run Health Education classes. We could use help on this in terms of program planning, evaluation, and curriculum oversight if interested!

  • We’ve moved our financials into Quickbooks Online. We could always use help from any people who are savvy with QB – if that is you, please drop us a line.

Thanks everyone, we couldn’t do this without you! More to come in the not so far future…
